UV Leak Detection Lamp

Spectronics Corporation's BIB-150P ultraviolet inspection lamp helps users pinpoint the location of leaks.

Spectronics Corporation recently released its BIB-150P ultraviolet inspection lamp. The hand-held UV lamp uses a 150-watt Built-In-Ballast™ bulb and is ideal for pinpointing any industrial leak such as oil, hydraulics, refrigerant, gasoline, diesel fuel or water. By adding the appropriate fluorescent dye and letting it circulate with the specific lubricant, users can see where the fluid escapes and hence find the leak. When the system is scanned with the BIB-150P, the dye will glow brightly at the leakage area. Features include:

  • Polymer housing that is dent-proof and impact-resistant.
  • Crack-resistant filter, which is protected by a filter holder that can be easily removed for bulb and filter maintenance.
  • Ergonomically designed handle.
  • Optional concentrated spot bulb for an intense UV beam that produces a nominal steady-state 365nm intensity of 4,500 µW/cm² at 15 inches (38 cm); if wider-area coverage is needed, the broad-beam spot bulb produces an intensity of 4,000 µW/cm² at 15 inches (38 cm).
