Heat Exchanger Tube Expansion Systems

According to Haskel, its HydroSwage® tube expansion system expands heat exchanger tubes into tube sheets through the direct application of high internal hydraulic pressure.

Haskel Intl. has updated its HydroSwage® tube expansion system with new ease-of-use and data collection features. According to the company, the compact Mark V system provides accuracy, speed and repeatability by expanding heat exchanger tubes into tube sheets through the direct application of high internal hydraulic pressure. The system also delivers:

  • Expansion pressures up to 50,000 PSI, which are applied uniformly, tube after tube, yielding consistent joints throughout the tube sheet.
  • 1-step high-pressure expansion regardless of the tube sheet thickness.
  • HydroSwage® expanding mandrels with a patented segmented seal support system that holds high pressures with minimal seal extrusion.
  • The capability to fabricate heat exchangers for steam generation, condensation and evaporation.
  • Touch-screen electronic controls for setting up all process functions.
  • The ability to store and download expansion history to an Excel spreadsheet through a USB port.
  • Heavy-duty casters that make it easy to roll the system up to the tube sheet face to perform expansion.
  • 100- to 240-VAC single-phase power and air inlet pressure between 70 and 150 PSI with a minimum of 70 SCFM.
  • An intensifier that’s mounted into a convenient drawer that slides out of the power unit. An optional 6-m (20-foot) long umbilical cord, which allows the intensifier to be used at a distance from the power unit.
  • Suitability for power generation, metalworking, air conditioning, chemical processing, petroleum and oil, and paper mill applications.
