Blackmer recently released its STX3-DEF sliding vane pump, which is ideal for the loading and unloading of diesel exhaust fluid (DEF). EPA 2010 vehicles equipped with selective catalytic reduction technology use DEF, which is a solution made up of purified water and 32.5 percent automotive-grade urea that is used as a carrying agent for the ammonia needed to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions from vehicles into nitrogen, water and carbon dioxide. According to the company, these STX3-DEF pumps further grant:
- Pump speeds up to 800 RPM, delivering fast fluid off-loading — a 6,000-gallon (22,700-L) tanker can be unloaded in about 24 minutes.
- Self-adjusting non-metallic Duravanes to resist wear and maintain flow rate, while minimizing shear and agitation.
- 316 stainless steel construction with external ball bearings, FKM elastomers and Blackmer chemical mechanical seals to provide longer transport pump life.
- Flow rates up to 250 GPM (946 LPM).
- Differential pressures up to 125 PSI (8.6 BAR).
- An adjustable relief valve to protect the pump from excessive pressures.
- Self-priming and dry run capabilities.
