WEFTEC Highlights: Latest Research and Solutions

Considered the largest water quality event in North America, WEFTEC.07 will celebrate its 80th year Oct. 13-17 at the San Diego Convention Center, featuring 119 technical sessions, 29 workshops, and eight facility tours as well as 1,000 companies exhibiting the latest water quality research, technology, and services.

Considered the largest water quality event in North America, WEFTEC.07 will celebrate its 80th year Oct. 13-17 at the San Diego Convention Center, featuring 119 technical sessions, 29 workshops, and eight facility tours as well as 1,000 companies exhibiting the latest water quality research, technology, and services. The opening general session will feature Dr. Perry L. McCarty, the 2007 Stockholm Water Prize Laureate, delivering the keynote address on Sunday, Oct. 14.

In 2006, WEFTEC drew more than 17,000 attendees and showcased 965 exhibiting companies. Sponsored by the Water Environment Federation, the event will focus on a number of important issues and technologies including those described below.

• Collection systems including management, operations and maintenance, overflow reduction, and regulations.

• Membrane technologies including regulatory compliance and application in wastewater and water reuse.

•Plant operations and treatment including proven solutions in water and wastewater treatment such as nutrient removal and odor control.

• Regulations including CMOM/SSO rules, TMDL/Watershed rules, nutrient trading, and NPDES Phase II.

• Residuals and biosolids including incineration, disposal, and reuse through land application.
