Split Shaft Seals for Dry Blenders

MECO custom-engineered shaft seals are available fully split to retrofit blenders, mixers, and other rotating bulk process equipment without the removal of bearings or drives.

MECO custom-engineered shaft seals are available fully split to retrofit blenders, mixers, and other rotating bulk process equipment without the removal of bearings or drives. They offer an effective alternative to packing glands that are failing to contain dry powders, pastes, slurries, corrosives, fluids, solvents, vapors, and gases. Also available are sanitary seal models, which can be disassembled easily for routine cleaning in abrasive powder processes in industries where frequent product changes and washdowns are required. Seals can also be fitted with flush water inlet and drain ports. Seals can accommodate a minimum of 6 mm of total shaft run-out/misalignment, and many work with an air- or gas-purge system; these consume 0.25 cfm or less of gas. The concept is based on the use of a driving elastomer; there are no internal springs to loosen, corrode, or break. Since the self-compensating driving elastomer is the sealโ€™s only interface with the shaft, the seals accommodate significant radial shaft misalignment and shock loads as well as thermal growth in high-temperature processes.
