The IR5000 open-path hydrocarbon gas detector can be configured for distances of 20, 100, or 130 meters. With unique single-gas detection beam technology, it boasts reduced drift and greater immunity to false alarms. The unpredictable nature of clouds formed by gas leaks and the effects of air currents from even light winds indicate that in outdoor environments, gas dispersion can result in very low gas concentrations. The IR5000 offers a way to protect people, equipment, and facilities from these dangerous low concentrations. Applications include open-path detection used to complement point gas detection and as a component in a total system solution. It can be used in applications where a single monitor can cover a line of several potential leak sources such as a row of valves or pumps. The system can also be used for perimeter monitoring including fence line monitoring, tank farms, gas spheres, or process areas inside refineries.
