Siemens Industry Inc. (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) has announced a new version of its popular Sinamics S120 Cabinet Module (CM) drive packages, which are compliant with North American standards. These enable easy configuration of complex common DC bus lineups for multi-motor coordinated drive systems, as well as high horsepower standalone drives. They are also offered with option UL/cUL listing. Additional features include:

  • Modularity and flexibility — customers are able to select and configure pre-designed modules, including line side components, line infeeds (bus supplies) and motor inverters.
  • A standardized power and control interface, which means that the modules can be positioned in a lineup that best suits the particular application.
  • The SINAMICS S120 firmware, when combined with Drive CLiQ, which allows users to assign control multiple Line and Motor Modules and mount the control units, plus mount the control units and associated I/O and sensor modules anywhere within the line-up.
  • The flexibility to use a variety of high-speed communications systems, such as Ethernet, PROFINET or Sinamics Link.

The company says these systems are ideal for paper machines, steel rolling mills, test stands and more.
