Schneider Electric (Palatine, Ill.) has announced the release of the Power-Zone 4 Arc Resistance Low Voltage Switchgear and the Model 6 Arc Resistant Motor Control System, which have been engineered for the oil and gas and metals industries, among others, in order to reduce downtime and advance the level of safety from potentially-dangerous arc flash events.
The Power-Zone 4 switchgear carries certifications from UL, IEEE and ANSI to provide arc flash protection from the front, back and sides while the compartment door is open. The design redirects and channels arc energy out the top of the switchgear, while new ArcBlok technology — which includes durable circuit breakers and arc-resistant features — helps prevent them in the first place.
The Model 6 Arc Resistant Motor Control Center offers better personnel protection in motor control centers with a arc-resistant rating of 100 msec, in accordance with IEE/ANSI C37.20.7. This structure also provides protection from the front, rear and sides and is equipped with features to reduce the potential of an arc flash incident.
