Wausau Acquires Colo.-Based Custom Window

Apogee Wausau Group, Inc., the parent company of Wausau Window and Wall Systems, has acquired Benchmark Sales Agency, Inc. under undisclosed terms.

Wausau, Wis. — Apogee Wausau Group, Inc., the parent company of Wausau Window and Wall Systems, has acquired Benchmark Sales Agency, Inc. under undisclosed terms. The acquisition includes Custom Window Company, Inc., and Wausau says this acquisition will help it expands its offerings to new geographic areas in the U.S.

Joseph F. Puishys, Apogee CEO, said in a statement: “Wausau’s purchase of Custom Window supports Apogee’s strategy to grow our architectural framing systems segment through geographic expansion, new products and domestic acquisition. It presents an opportunity to better serve customers and prospects in the Western U.S. and the historical renovation market throughout the country.”

Custom Window was founded in 1981 in Englewood, Colo., and currently employs more than 100 people. It currently manufactures historically accurate, aluminum window products that have accounted for annual revenues of approximately $10 million. The company’s current product offerings include regionally-appropriate windows for the K-12 school market and low-rise office applications, plus patented, double-hung windows.

Wausau Window and Wall Systems is an award-winning firm that engineers and fabricates window and curtainwall systems for commercial buildings, particularly those in education, health care and government markets. The company has received numerous awards from the state of Wisconsin for being a strong employer overall, and more specifically for its emphasis on sustainability. The company is one of the architectural businesses of Apogee Enterprises, Inc.
