PRINCETON, NJ – Faced with spiraling raw materials costs, fierce competition for scarce resources, high energy costs and the increasing “greening” of demand, small and medium enterprises alike worldwide are re-thinking how they do business. They are under immense pressure to boost their sustainability – a major challenge necessitating the development and use of environmentally friendly products and processes and green technologies.

“Hannover Messe’s ‘greentelligence’ theme reflects this trend,” said Dr. Wolfram von Fritsch, Chairman of the Managing Board at Deutsche Messe. “The exhibitors at all eight flagship fairs being staged at Hannover Messe 2012 will demonstrate that an intelligent mix of efficient processes, eco-friendly materials and sustainable products is critical to survival in today’s highly competitive, dynamic international markets.”

Hannover Messe 2012 runs from April 23-27, 2012. Over those five days, companies from around the globe will explore current industry trends in the pivotal fields of automation, energy technology, industrial supply and subcontracting services and R&D. The Hannover Messe 2012 lineup will also feature IndustrialGreenTec, a new trade fair dedicated to pioneering ideas and market-ready products in the field of environmental technology and sustainability.

The new trade fair will give manufacturing companies something they have never had before: a dedicated international showcase for the products and processes needed for eco-friendly and sustainable manufacturing.

Hannover Messe’s Industrial Automation fair will also be staged under the “greentelligence” banner. The exhibitors at that event will, among much else, be showcasing solutions for intelligent, energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable process and production automation, with a strong focus on intelligent industrial IT.

The Digital Factory fair is likewise a trailblazer for efficient production and process chain efficiency, delivering the intelligent IT solutions needed for manufacturing products in a sustainable way.

The Energy and MobiliTec fairs are “greentelligence” events through and through, dedicated, as they are, to themes such as eMobility, renewable energy production and the development of high-tech solutions for cleaner production in conventional power stations.

To “go green,” industrial production needs environmentally sustainable components and materials, and this is where the Industrial Supply fair comes in. As gatekeepers of downstream profitability and environmental performance, the exhibitors from this highly innovative sector are committed to the ongoing efficiency optimization of energy and material resource utilization in industrial processes.

Hannover Messe’s upstream supply themes also find expression in the CoilTechnica fair, where the exhibitors will present the latest innovations in processes and materials for the manufacture of efficient coil windings, electric motors, generators and transformers.

On the R&D side, the Research & Technology trade fair will take a broad and in-depth look at the development and application of eco-friendly and sustainable technologies, materials and processes. It will examine and present the latest research and development findings from all segments of the world’s most important industrial value chains.

With its chosen lead theme of “Green + Intelligence”, the official Partner Country at Hannover Messe 2012, China, will also be placing major emphasis on “greentelligent” solutions. According to Gu Chao, Director-General of the Exhibition Department of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the Chinese companies and research institutions exhibiting in Hannover in April 2012 will profile innovative projects from many areas, including sustainable energy production, intelligent energy grids and green technology.

“The keynote topic of ‘greentelligence’ will resonate throughout all of Hannover Messe 2012. In this day and age, manufacturers everywhere are finding it mission-critical to put sustainability and environmental protection at the top of their agendas,” Dr. von Fritsch remarked.
