CHESHIRE, Conn. (AP) — Federal environmental officials say a Connecticut aerospace and marine manufacturer faces a fine of nearly $176,000 for allegedly violating clean air and right-to-know laws.
The Environmental Protection Agency said Thursday that Consolidated Industries Inc. in Cheshire violated the federal Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act by failing to file chemical reporting forms for chromium and nickel in 2007 and 2008.
Federal officials say Consolidated Industries also failed to put in place a required risk management plan for hydrofluoric acid.
The EPA's regional office in Boston says the company has since filed required forms and certified that the plant complies with all other reporting requirements. It also has stopped using hydrofluoric acid in concentrations that would require a risk management plan.
Consolidated Industries did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
