OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) — By a nearly 2-to-1 margin, union members at Oshkosh Corp. have rejected a second contract proposal in eight days.

Officials with UAW Local 578 say the vote Saturday was 63 percent against the deal and 37 percent for it.

The latest deal contained a number of changes from the proposal that was overwhelmingly rejected Sept. 30. But members apparently felt the changes didn't go far enough.

The disagreement seems to center on non-monetary issues such as the hiring of temporary workers.

The union says it would like to return to the bargaining table soon. A message left with an Oshkosh Corp. spokesman Saturday was not immediately returned.

Shares of Oshkosh Corp. were down 55 cents Friday, closing at $16.65. Shares have traded in a 52-week range of $16.20 to $17.39.
