Mitsui Engineering Wins Butadiene Plant Order

Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co. said Tuesday it has won an order for a butadiene plant with annual production capacity of 100,000 tons from Petrochemical Corp. of Singapore.

TOKYO, April 3 (Kyodo) — Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co. said Tuesday it has won an order for a butadiene plant with annual production capacity of 100,000 tons from Petrochemical Corp. of Singapore.

The plant will be built on Jurong Island to produce butadiene from the second quarter of 2014 for a tire material production plant now under construction in Singapore.

The deal represents the 30th petrochemical plant order Mitsui Engineering has landed from Singapore, since the first butadiene plant delivered in 1982.

The company said it will step up order-winning efforts in Asia where petrochemical plant investment has been growing.
