Cummins Filtration To Close Lake Mills Operations

About 80 workers are expected to lose their jobs over the next 15 months as Cummins Filtration closes down its operations in the northern Iowa city of Lake Mills. Cummins Inc. spokesman John Mills says employees will receive severance and outplacement services.

LAKE MILLS, Iowa (AP) — About 80 workers are expected to lose their jobs over the next 15 months as Cummins Filtration closes down its operations in the northern Iowa city of Lake Mills.

Cummins Inc. spokesman John Mills says employees will receive severance and outplacement services.

The shutdown at the two plants is expected to be completed by the end of next year. The company makes air intake and filtration products.

The city of Lake Mills bought the company's north plant last year but leased back about 35,000 square feet to Cummins. Mayor Dave Steffens says he expects the plant to be rented out soon, because several prospective tenants have looked at the space.
