IRVINE, Calif. (AP) — Kia Motors America said Tuesday it will build the Sorento crossover at its manufacturing facility in West Point, Ga., making it the first vehicle to be built at the South Korean automaker's newly minted plant.
Production is scheduled to begin at the plant — the automaker's first U.S. facility — later this year. The company has already hired almost 700 workers at the facility and expects to have 2,500 employees making 300,000 cars per year by the end of 2010.
The maker of the Soul SUV and Spectra compact car said the 2011 Sorento will sport a full redesign along with two- and four-wheel drive options and an array of optional features.
