CHICAGO (AP) — Authorities say a former official at a Chicago factory where workers staged a high-profile sit-in has been arrested and others who ran Republic Windows and Doors are also under investigation.

The six-day occupation of the shuttered plant last December drew national attention to the plight of laid-off workers.

A spokeswoman for the Cook County state's attorney says one official is due in bond court Thursday on financial charges. Spokeswoman Tandra Simonton declined to offer details. Simonton adds that search warrants were executed Wednesday in a wider criminal investigation.

Union representatives have long alleged that Republic violated labor law, including by removing machinery from the plant as it closed. Republic executives have previously denied any wrongdoing.
