GE Aviation Expands Mississippi Operations By 350

BATESVILLE, Miss. (AP) — GE Aviation is expanding its operation in the northern Mississippi city of Batesville. Gov. Haley Barbour said Monday that the company will add 350 jobs over the next several years. The plantalready has more than 100 workers. The plant makes composite components for the GEnx jet engine, which will power Boeing's new 787 and 747-8 aircraft.

BATESVILLE, Miss. (AP) — GE Aviation is expanding its operation in the northern Mississippi city of Batesville.

Gov. Haley Barbour said Monday that the company will add 350 jobs over the next several years. The plantalready has more than 100 workers.

The plant makes composite components for the GEnx jet engine, which will power Boeing's new 787 and 747-8 aircraft.

A news release from Barbour's office says the GEnx is the world's only jet engine with composite fan blades, composite fan platforms and a composite fan case.

Barbour says the expansion represents a company investment of about $85 million. The state is providing $8.6 million of incentives, and Panola County is providing $4 million.
