FORT PAYNE, Ala. (AP) — A Canadian auto supplier says it plans to invest $14 million to $16 million in a plant to be built in Fort Payne that will initially employ 200 people.
Plasman Corp, part of A.P. Plasman Corp. of Windsor, Ontario, says the facility will do plastic-injection molding, painting and assembly of automotive exterior parts and tool repair. Production is slated to begin next year.
Plasman works with automakers including Nissan, Toyota, Honda and General Motors. It says the Fort Payne site puts it closer to customers in the southern U.S. and that employment at the new plant could eventually reach 350.
Gov. Bob Riley was expected to join local leaders and company officials on Friday for a formal announcement. Details of the incentives package were to be released.
