NEOSHO, Mo. (AP) — Twin Rivers Foods says it will keep its plant in Neosho open, saving almost 500 jobs in the southwest Missouri town.
The Fayetteville, Ark.-based company had told the state in February that it would close the chicken deboning plant on April 9 and lay off about 485 workers.
The Joplin Globe reports that John Ball, chief operating officer for Twin Rivers, said Monday that the company has decided to keep the plant operating. But he declined to say what caused the change.
Neosho's economic development director, Gib Garrow, says he was told by Twin Rivers officials that they have enough work at the plant to continue operating.
