FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) — Federal immigration agents have taken 43 people into custody following a raid at a Fullerton manufacturing plant.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Lori Haley says federal agents executed a search warrant Tuesday morning at Terra Universal Inc.

Haley says the 43 people taken into custody are suspected of being in the country illegally.

Haley says the raid is part of an ongoing criminal investigation but the search warrant is under seal so no other information was immediately available.

According to Terra's website, the company designs, builds and equips cleanrooms and laboratories and employs about 150 people in Fullerton.

Terra's immigration lawyer David Ross says the raid is overkill, and caused a shutdown that cost the company $250,000 in lost business.
