GAS CITY, Ind. (AP) — A company plans to buy a closed auto parts factory in central Indiana and start producing children's furniture there this fall.

Executives of New Jersey-based Munire Furniture joined Gov. Mitch Daniels and local officials Friday in announcing plans for the Gas City factory. The company says it expects up to 100 people will be working at the factory by year's end, with potentially 350 workers by 2013.

Munire distributes baby cribs, dressers and other furniture to stores such as Babies R Us and Burlington Coat Factory. Company president Munir Hussain says production will start in November for its new Echelon Furniture division.

The company is spending $5 million to buy and equip a plant that Amcast Automotive closed in 2006 in the city midway between Fort Wayne and Indianapolis.
