ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) — An Indianapolis electronics company says it will buy a former General Motors plant in Anderson as part of an expansion that will create up to 100 jobs by 2013.
Northwind Electronics LLC makes electrical systems for work vehicles. CEO Phillip Berry says the company currently employs 10 people in Indianapolis and had been looking for possible locations for expansion. Officials say the new jobs will pay $14 to $15 per hour.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered $475,000 in tax credits and $22,500 in training grants, and Anderson officials could add an additional tax break. The company will invest $954,000 to buy and overhaul the facility.
The former Delco Remy factory is the last of the former GM buildings the city inherited after the automaker closed its Anderson plants.
