RACINE, Wis. (AP) — An Australian company that makes containers for needles and medical waste is opening a processing plant in Racine County.
Daniels Sharpsmart has leased a 22,000 square-foot building in Yorkville. The company will install a sterilization system controlled by robots that alone will cost $1.5 million.
Daniels Sharpsmart describes itself as the world's largest provider of reusable containers for disposal of needles and other sharp objects used by hospitals, doctors, dentists and veterinarians. Daniels supplies the containers, collects them, disposes of the contents, sterilizes them and returns them to the users.
The Racine Journal Times says the plant will employ about 20 by late June and eventually up to 55.
