CHANDLER, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities say one employee is severely burned and three others are hospitalized after a substance ignited in a chemical-storage room at Intel's plant in Chandler.

They say the flash fire occurred in a self-contained room containing petroleum-based solvents used for cleaning.

Chandler Fire Department officials say eight employees were hurt, but four were treated at the scene and released Tuesday afternoon.

They say three people were taken to Chandler Regional Medical Center and one was taken to the burn unit of Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix.

Authorities say all eight employees were wearing protective gear at the time of the 2 p.m. incident.

The names of the injured haven't been released.

Fire officials say the fire was contained in one room at the microchip company's Ocotillo campus and quickly extinguished.
