LOVELL, Wyo. (AP) — An employee at a Wyoming bentonite plant is recovering at a Denver hospital after severing his hand while operating a conveyor. Steve Wilkerson, who manages American Colloid in Lovell, says the employee was injured at about 9 p.m. Monday and is doing well and is in "good spirits.

The Billings Gazette in Montana, reporting from its Wyoming bureau, says the federal Mine Safety and Health Administration and Wyoming mine inspectors are investigating the accident.

Amy Louvierre with MSHA in Arlington, Va., says the man was troubleshooting a screw conveyor that transfers waste from one location to another when the accident happened.

The man's name has not been released.
