LINCOLN, R.I. (AP) — Two members of Rhode Island's congressional delegation are set to announce new legislation intended to boost manufacturing in the state.

U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and Congressman David Cicilline are expected to announce Monday the introduction in Congress of the House version of the "Off-shoring Prevention Act." The bill, which has already been introduced in the Senate, is designed to prevent companies from sending jobs overseas as a way of keeping costs down.

The two lawmakers are scheduled to tour a manufacturing plant at a Lincoln firm that performs electroplating and metal coating.

Officials said 28,000 manufacturing jobs were lost in Rhode Island between 2000 and 2010.
