KINSTON, N.C. (AP) — A company that manufactures large aircraft sections is expanding production at its North Carolina factory, adding work that could mean up to 200 additional jobs within five years.
Spirit AeroSystems Inc. said Wednesday that it will move wing production for Gulfstream trans-continental business jets from its Tulsa, Okla., factory to one in Kinston. Spirit spokesman Ken Evans says the cost-cutting move will not mean job losses in Tulsa, where the 2,000 employees will shift to other projects.
Spirit's move will diversify work at the Kinston plant, which opened last year to make major fuselage sections for the Airbus A350 commercial jet being assembled in France.
Spirit is moving manufacturing and management of Gulfstream G280 jet wings to Kinston. The jet is going through final testing.
