TRENTON, N.S.(Canadian Press) — A spokesman for a Nova Scotia wind farm parts maker says a lack of welders has caused delays in production.
Brad Murray of DSTN, a subsidiary of Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering, says the Trenton plant expects to roll out its first wind turbine tower next month.
But Murray says the company is looking for eight to 10 more qualified welders.
He says the plant has 18 welders who meet certification and are being trained to do submerged arc welding on circular tower units.
Murray says officials hope the first tower will be completed and ready for blasting and painting next week.
