Man Dies In Accident At CAT Plant

SOUTH MILWAUKEE, Wis. (AP) — A worker at the Caterpillar Inc. plant in South Milwaukee has died after he was injured in an accident at the facility. According to a statement from Caterpillar, the man was working in the weld shop area Thursday afternoon when he was struck by a welded structure as it was being moved.

According to a statement from Caterpillar, the man was working in the weld shop area Thursday afternoon when he was struck by a welded structure as it was being moved. He suffered fatal injuries.

The South Milwaukee Fire Department says the man was dead when they arrived.

The company says it sent production employees home immediately after the accident. The company is also arranging counseling for workers who request it.

Caterpillar is working with investigators to determine what caused the accident.

Caterpillar, based in Peoria, Ill., is the world's largest maker of construction and mining equipment. It acquired Bucyrus International in July.
