GOLDSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Automotive parts company Cooper-Standard Automotive plans to add nearly 140 jobs at a North Carolina plant by the end of next year.
Gov. Beverly Perdue's office said Monday the added jobs are part of an $18 million expansion by Cooper-Standard at a Goldsboro plant that makes rubber, metal and plastic seals and trim. The company has been promised state and local grants and tax credits worth more than $2 million.
The new jobs are expected to pay an average of nearly $32,000 a year, just above the Wayne County average of $30,000.
The company employs about 370 people in Goldsboro, one of 19 locations Cooper-Standard operates in the United States
Cooper-Standard announced a smaller expansion at its Spartanburg, S.C., plant last year, months after emerging from Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
