NAGOYA, Oct. 12 (Kyodo) — Toyota Motor Corp. said Wednesday it has decided to extend the suspension of vehicle production in Thailand through Saturday due to disruptions to its supply chain caused by devastating flooding.
Regarding operations from next Monday, Japan's largest automaker said it will decide after monitoring developments. Operations at Toyota's three plants in Thailand have been halted since Monday, though the plants have escaped damage.
Toyota had earlier planned to resume the manufacturing of cars on Saturday by having its employees work that day, which is normally a holiday.
Among other automakers, Honda Motor Co. has also suspended manufacturing in Thailand after its assembly plant there was damaged by flooding caused by heavy rain since July.
