GASTONIA, N.C. (AP) — A Spanish manufacturer of plastic packaging for cosmetic, food and pharmaceutical customers plans to open a Gaston County plant and hire about 130 workers in the next four years.

Gov. Beverly Perdue's office said Wednesday that CTL Packaging will pay an average wage of more than $42,000 a year plus benefits. The Gaston County average annual wage is $34,000.

The company is expected to invest $58 million in return for state and local incentives worth more than $7 million.

The money includes nearly $5 million in state grants, tax breaks and worker training if the company meets all of its hiring and investment targets. Local governments are kicking in another $2.4 million with the company getting 63 acres of free land and a $500,000 advance to prepare the factory site.
