LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — A Chicago snack food supplier has completed acquisition of an Arkansas ice cream maker and plans to make its products available to retailers across the state.

In a statement released Monday, Schulze & Burch Biscuit Co. said its management will meet with retailers to present the Yarnell's Ice Cream Co. product line with original formulas and start the process of reopening Yarnell's plant in Searcy using some former Yarnell's employees.

Yarnell's halted production in June and declared Chapter 7 bankruptcy in August. The company laid off 200 workers and closed after nearly 80 years in business because of declining ice cream sales and rising food and fuel prices.

Schulze & Burch purchased Yarnell's assets at an auction in December for $1.3 million. A bankruptcy judge approved the sale Jan. 9.
