TOKYO, March 26 (Kyodo) — Canadian Solar Japan K.K. said Monday it will build and operate a solar power plant in Tsu, Mie Prefecture, becoming the first foreign solar-cell manufacturer in Japan with a mega photovoltaic plant of its kind.
The Japanese arm of the Canadian maker said it will start the construction of the 2,000-kilowatt mega solar plant this summer with an aim to launch operation by March 2013.
The solar plant will be located on a 4 hectare property in the capital city of the central Japan prefecture. Its construction will be jointly undertaken by Canadian Solar and Japanese electronics trading house Hakuto Co.
