OSAKA, Oct. 11 (Kyodo) — A Panasonic Corp. electronic devices factory in Qindao, Shandong Province, resumed normal operations Thursday after being severely damaged a month ago by Chinese demonstrators enraged by a territorial dispute between Japan and China, the company said.
Production facilities at the factory were devastated by the demonstrators on Sept. 15 when they stormed into the factory, it said.
Resumption of normal operations at the Qingdao factory signifies the resumption of normal operations at all of Panasonic's plants in China. Their production activities had been disrupted by Chinese protests over the Sept. 11 nationalization of the Japanese-controlled, Chinese-claimed Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea.
The Qingdao factory had partially resumed operations on Sept. 21.
The anti-Japanese protests had forced plants in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, and Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, to suspend operations.
