Buffalo, New York — Gov. Andrew Cuomo will be in western New York, where he's expected to make an announcement regarding a high-tech clean energy hub the state is building in Buffalo.

The governor's office says he'll make an announcement at 1 p.m. Tuesday in South Buffalo. No details have been released, but local media report that Cuomo is expected to attend the groundbreaking for San Mateo, California-based SolarCity's solar panel manufacturing plant at Buffalo's Riverbend site.

The state is investing $225 million to convert the former Republic Steel site along the Buffalo River into a clean energy manufacturing hub. SolarCity is expected be the anchor tenant for the site, with plans to build a solar panel plant that could employ as many as 1,000 people within two years.
