Manufacturing Training Center To Open In Central Ind.

COLUMBUS, Ind. (AP) — A $13.5 million center aimed at training workers to fill manufacturing jobs that are growing steadily more complex is opening in central Indiana. The Republic of Columbus reports that the Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence will open Friday in a 43,000-square-foot facility on Columbus Municipal Airport property.

COLUMBUS, Ind. (AP) — A $13.5 million center aimed at training workers to fill manufacturing jobs that are growing steadily more complex is opening in central Indiana.

The Republic of Columbus reports that the Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence will open Friday in a 43,000-square-foot facility on Columbus Municipal Airport property.

The center is built around a curriculum of science, technology, engineering and math and programs offered within the building include two- and four-year degrees. In addition, local manufacturers will be able to send employees to the center for degrees or specific training in everything from human resources to quality improvement initiatives.

Columbus-based engine manufacturer Cummins Inc. donated $300,000 in equipment for a metrology lab to teach skills in precision measurement.
