DECATUR, Ill. (AP) — A business in Decatur that makes iron castings plans to celebrate its 75th anniversary by adding a shift and hiring dozens of workers.

Decatur Foundry President Terry Young on Monday said he plans to add a weekend shift before the end of the year and hire 35 to 50 workers. Young says the move is in response to demand for gray and ductile iron castings from energy markets and the pump, compressor and electric motor industries.

Young tells the (Decatur) Herald & Review (http://bit.ly/qb9MlF ) that the expansion is possible because of decreased competition, the improved economy and declining exports from China.

Young says Decatur Foundry currently employs 99 people.
