Army Signs Contract With Textron For $49.6 Million

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Textron Inc. said Tuesday that the U.S. Army exercised a contract option worth $49.6 million for Textron's marine and land systems unit to supply it with 65 additional M1117 armored security vehicles. Manufacturing of the wheeled armored vehicles will take place at Textron facilities in the New Orleans area.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Textron Inc. said Tuesday that the U.S. Army exercised a contract option worth $49.6 million for Textron's marine and land systems unit to supply it with 65 additional M1117 armored security vehicles.

Manufacturing of the wheeled armored vehicles will take place at Textron facilities in the New Orleans area. The diversified manufacturer has produced 3,161 of the vehicles for the Army.

The armored security vehicles perform a variety of missions including scout, infantry personnel carrier, reconnaissance, command and control and maintenance, Textron said.

In midday trading, Textron shares rose 19 cents to $22.63.
