FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A Canadian company has agreed to pay a $6,000 fine and change procedures after the death of a worker in Fargo's industrial park.
Authorities say 49-year-old Noren Ellingson suffered a brain injury when a nearly two-ton metal bin fell on him at Buhler Industries on Aug. 16. He died two days later. Buhler Industries is a Winnipeg-based company that makes agricultural equipment.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration initially levied a $7,000 fine. Area OSHA Director Tom Deutscher says the amount was lowered when the company agreed to make changes in load-securing procedures. Authorities say the metal bin was being loaded onto a flatbed truck when it slipped and landed on Ellingson.
