NEW YORK, Sept. 11 (Kyodo) — Honda Motor Co. is recalling 310,773 units of the Pilot sport utility vehicle in the United States due to defective parts in seat belts, according to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Subject to the recall are 2009-2011 model year Pilot vehicles manufactured from March 13, 2008 through Aug. 30, 2011, according to a report Honda filed with the NHTSA.
Honda said there were no reports of injury related to the defect. It will replace the seat belts in question, if necessary, after conducting an inspection.
There is a possibility that the stitching that secures the end of the driver and front passenger lap section of the seat belt may be incomplete or missing, leading the belt to detach from the anchor webbing and increasing the risk of personal injury in a crash.
Meanwhile, Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. has reported to the NHTSA its recalls of 295,123 units of 2002-2007 model year Imprezas and two other models due to defective suspensions of front control arms.
The maker of Subaru brand cars is also recalling 195,080 units of two models, 2010-2011 Outback and Legacy vehicles, due to problems with washers in the windshield wiper.
