OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) — Oshkosh Corp. says it's hiring 650 to 750 people in Oshkosh, thanks to a military truck contract.
Company spokesman John Daggett says career fairs are planned for February. The company is looking for employees with production experience, especially in welding and assembly.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the company also says there will be some salaried positions.
Oshkosh has received a $3 billion U.S. Army contract to build Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles, known as FMTVs.
The Oshkosh Northwestern reports that originally, the contract called for Oshkosh to build 23,000 trucks and trailers over five years.
Daggett says the military already has ordered 18,000 trucks to be delivered in the next two years. He says Oshkosh now believes the Army will order many more trucks than the original 23,000.
