MILLVILLE, N.J. (AP) — Officials in a southern New Jersey town are pleased a lucrative military contract will not fly away. The Army will spend an additional $23.7 million with Boeing to continue modifying Chinook helicopters at Millville Airport in Cumberland County through April 2012. The Millville facility opened last year.

MILLVILLE, N.J. (AP) — Officials in a southern New Jersey town are pleased a lucrative military contract will not fly away.

The Army will spend an additional $23.7 million with Boeing to continue modifying Chinook helicopters at Millville Airport in Cumberland County through April 2012.

The Millville facility opened last year. CH-47F Chinook helicopters built in Philadelphia are flown to Millville where communication, navigation and defense systems are upgraded.

Earl Sherrick of the Greater Millville Chamber of Commerce tells The Press of Atlantic City the contract boosts the economy and includes 50 high-paying jobs.
