GRABILL, Ind. (AP) — A company that makes metal and plastic molded parts plans on moving into a closed auto parts factory in northeastern Indiana and potentially hire 400 workers in the next few years.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. announced Tuesday that R3 Composites Corp. would start manufacturing operations in the town of Grabill near Fort Wayne, where it will make bathroom fixtures and composite shipping containers.

The Muscatine, Iowa-based company says it will spend more than $4.5 million to lease and equip a former Meridian Automotive factory that has been closed since 2009. The company expects to begin hiring for manufacturing and office positions this summer.
