Fisker Names Former Chevy Volt Chief As New CEO

The luxury hybrid carmaker says that Tony Posawatz is CEO effective immediately. Posawatz, 52, spent more than 30 years at GM.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Fisker Automotive has named the former head of electric vehicles at General Motors as its new CEO.

The luxury hybrid carmaker says that Tony Posawatz is CEO effective immediately. Posawatz replaces Tom LaSorda, a former CEO of Chrysler who joined Fisker in February.

Posawatz, 52, spent more than 30 years at GM. He led the team that brought the Chevrolet Volt to market.

The Volt and the Fisker Karma both run for an extended period on battery power but have backup gas engines if the battery gets depleted.

LaSorda says finding a long-term CEO was one of his responsibilities when he took the job. He recruited Posawatz after Posawatz retired from GM on July 1.
