HIGH POINT, N.C. (AP) — The parent company of High Point-based Thomas Built Buses says more than 1,800 buses are being recalled to repair a faulty part.

The High Point Enterprise reported (http://bit.ly/oBVDiA) that the recall involves clamps on engines supplied for the buses by Cummins Inc.

Parent company Daimler Trucks North America said Monday it initiated a safety recall campaign and has reported to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.

Daimler says a bolt included in the clamp assembly may break when it's subjected to stress.

The federal agency says the recall involves three series of Thomas Built school buses manufactured from Sept. 1 through Dec. 31 of last year. The recall affects buses equipped with either of two models of Cummins engines.
