DUGWAY, Utah (AP) — Lockheed Martin Corp. said Monday it and Kaman Corp. successfully demonstrated an unmanned helicopter designed to resupply troops in Afghanistan.
The defense contractor said it conducted a series of remote-control flight tests for the K-MAX aircraft last week in subfreezing temperatures at the U.S. Army's Dugway Proving Ground in Utah.
Lockheed officials said the helicopter performed a set of resupply maneuvers as programmed, including hovering at 12,000 feet, delivering 3,000 pounds of cargo, and flying in both day and night conditions.
Shares of Lockheed fell 58 cents to $75.14, and Kaman shares dropped 18 cents to $24.19 in morning trading.
