Maplehurst Bakeries, located in central Indiana and known for their distribution and manufacturing operations for cakes and cupcakes, is planning a $78 million expansion. The renovation will include a 180,000 square-foot plant in Lebanon to house its operations.

LEBANON, Ind. (AP) — A central Indiana maker of frozen bakery products is planning a $78 million expansion that could add nearly 220 jobs in the next few years.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. says Brownsburg-based Maplehurst Bakeries will renovate and equip a 180,000 square-foot plant in Lebanon to house its warehouse, distribution and manufacturing operations for cakes and cupcakes. It says the new plant should begin operations next March and that Maplehurst plans to begin hiring in December,

The IEDC said it offered Maplehurst more than $1 million in conditional tax credits and up to $200,000 in training grants.

Maplehurst is a division of Canada-based Weston Foods. It now has more than 300 full-time workers in Indiana. It also makes doughnuts, pies, bread and other products for in-store and food service bakeries.
