Nearly half of all Americans won't be buying Halloween candy this year, and certain areas of the country get much more into the holiday than others. This infographic details how consumers celebrate the holiday.

Halloween is big business. American's now spend nearly $7 billion on costumes, candy, directions, trips and tours during the Halloween season, making it the second biggest holiday in terms of consumer spending. The National Retail Federation estimates that more than $2 billion of that spending will be on candy alone — after all, trick or treating is what the holiday is all about.

Across the country, Halloween habits and customs are dramatically different. Nearly half of all Americans won't be buying Haloween candy this year, and certain areas of the country get much more into the holiday than others.
