After an exhaustive round of tests covering over nearly 7,000 samples of meat products in Europe, the EU has released a statement announcing that the horsemeat scandal that recently swept through Europe is a prime example of fraud but did not create a public safety risk. European Health Commissioner Tonio Borg said,
"Today's findings have confirmed that this is a matter of food fraud and not of food safety"
